The HeART of Food: Celebrating Children’s Creativity

El Corazón Cultural Center, 2600 N. 5th St.On Sunday, May 6, 2018 from 4–6 pm, Taller Puertorriqueño will join forces with Cooks Who Care to raise much needed funds to support Taller’s children and youth art education programs, which fortify the academic and creative development of over 5,000 youth at risk in our community.

The HeART of Food: SUPPORTING CHILDREN’S CREATIVITY brings together Philadelphia’s vibrant arts and culinary communities as guests and conversations carry you from bite to bite while you enjoy the creations of some of Philadelphia’s most generous and talented chefs. The afternoon includes a rich sampling of authentic flavors, inspired by art made by the young artist participants in Taller’s art education programs.

The chefs’ creations will be evaluated by a panel of judges, including:

• Cheldin Barlatt Rumer (CEO at i-g creative and Host/Executive Producer at This is it TV)
• Keith Taylor (Chef/Owner Zachary’s BBQ, Special engagements on Food Network)
• Jennifer Fear Zavala (former Top Chef Contestant and owner of Cherry Bombe Catering)
• Hernán Guaracao (Editor, Al Día Newspaper)

Chefs include:

Cooks Who Care, LLC (CWC) inspires chefs, businesses, and neighbors to leverage their passion towards social impact. With this partnership they support the diversity, creativity, and promise of our great city.

Taller Puertorriqueño’s arts and educational programming preserves and uplifts Latinx traditions. A staff of artists and educators works alongside the untapped talent of young artists to nurture a new generation of cultural awareness. Taller’s new community space, El Corazón Cultural Center, opened in December of 2016 as a showpiece for a community that seeks and creates beauty in an undervalued neighborhood.

El Corazón Cultural Center, 2600 N. 5th St.El Taller Puertorriqueño (Taller) une esfuerzos con “Cooks Who Care” el domingo 6 de mayo del 2018, de 4 a 6 pm, para recaudar fondos en apoyo de los programas de educación para niños y jóvenes del Taller. Estos programas fortalecen el desarrollo académico y creativo de más que 5,000 jóvenes en nuestra comunidad.

El evento, que hemos llamado The HeArt of Food: APOYANDO LA CREATIVIDAD DE LOS NIÑOS, va a reunir a las comunidades artísticas y culinarias de Filadelfia. Los invitados pueden conversar mientras disfrutan las creaciones de generosos y talentosos chefs de Filadelfia. Además, el ganador de Philadelphia Art and Food del 2016, Ted Torres (propietario de Coa Catering), es parte de nuestro evento. La tarde va a incluir una muestra de sabores auténticos que son inspirados por el arte creado por artistas jóvenes de nuestro programas.

Además de saborear la comida, podrán visitar las aclamadas instalaciones del Taller, admirar el arte en nuestra galería, participar de subasta de arte y otros artículos de interes, y crear nuevos contactos, y mucho más.

Cooks Who Care, LLC (CWC) inspira a chefs, empresas y vecinos a transformar su pasión en pro de un impacto social. Esta asociación apoya la diversidad, creatividad y la promesa de nuestra gran ciudad.

Las artes y la programación educativa del Taller preservan y elevan las tradiciones puertorriqueñas y latinas. Nuestro equipo de artistas y educadores trabajan junto con estos jóvens artistas para formar una nueva generación con conciencia cultural. El nuevo espacio del Taller, El Centro El Corazón Cultural, se inauguró en diciembre del 2016. Hoy se identifica como una obra significativa para una comunidad que busca y crea belleza en un vecindario de recursos limitados.
